Woolworths recalls popular cleaning products

Woolworths is recalling two of its popular cleaning products because of faulty child resistant caps.

The products, Essentials Domestic Regular Cleaner and Essentials Domestic Cleaner Fresh, are poisonous and could pose a major health risk if they leak.

The recall applies to the two products with use-by dates up to and including June 2019.

The items were sold in Woolworths and Metro stores nationally between April 2016 and July 18.

“Customers should wear gloves and immediately dispose of the contents by flushing the detergent down the sink with plenty of running water and wipe any affected areas with a damp white cloth,” Woolworths said in a statement released on Wednesday.

“Customers need to rinse the bottle and cap with water and present the rinsed out bottle and/or a purchase receipt to any Woolworths supermarket or Metro store for a full refund.

“Woolworths takes product safety seriously and apologises for any inconvenience caused by this recall. Customers can call the toll-free customer service number for more information on 1800 103 515.”
