‘Completely grossed out’: Woolworths lettuce filmed crawling with bugs

A Woolworths shopper was “completely grossed out” after discovering hundreds of unwanted intruders inside a bag of lettuce.

The customer spotted a huge number of creepy crawlies inside the vacuum sealed bag of “crisp and crunchy” cos lettuce hearts purchased from the Seaford Meadows store in South Australia.

In a video shared to the supermarket’s Facebook page on Monday, the bag was shown crawling with a variety of bugs, rendering it completely inedible.

“Very disappointed in your produce lately, this certainly would not be the first time,” the annoyed customer wrote.

“I'm completely grossed out! So glad I did not open this bag.”

She explained the bag contained “hundreds of tiny bugs, adult flies and mosquitos”, as well as other bugs she couldn’t identify.

“I'm sorry but I'm certainly not a returning customer,” her post read.

Woolworths offers refund

A Woolworths employee requested more information from the shopper in order to raise the issue with its quality team.

They also informed her she could return her receipt to the store and receive either a refund or replacement.

Another shopper last week was shocked after finding a slug inside the supermarket’s own brand of frozen mixed vegetables.

A mum also recently discovered internal organs still inside a cooked chicken she bought from the retailer.
