Woolworths customer films mouse running over egg cartons: 'No thanks'

A Woolworths customer was taken aback after finding a mouse running through the egg aisle of a busy Melbourne store.

The shocked shopper, who posted footage of the rodent on TikTok with the caption "yea no thanks", showed the critter running through the refrigerator section of the Woolworths QV shop in the CBD.

"And now I want to sit back and relax and enjoy my evening when all of a sudden, I hear this agitating, grating voice," the TikTok user told viewers in the clip before sticking a carton of eggs back into the grocery fridge.

The video has been viewed over 100,000 times and has garnered over 300 comments and nearly 5,000 likes since it was posted.

While many viewers were equally revolted by the sight, other TikTokers also shared some interesting thoughts on the matter.

"You should go to a chicken farm and see how many more there. One is nothing," one viewer commented.

"Not too long ago there was a snake too, it's like a whole food chain in there," another person replied, referring to news of a python found at the spice shelf of another Woolworths store last year.

"That's normal, you should see them hiding in the pallets ready for the stores," replied another.

A few other viewers also appeared to be quite amused about the rodent, with comments about how "cute" it was and some TikTok users adding they wanted to take it home.

"Free pet!" someone joked, while another commented, "Little baby Ratatouille".

Woolworths responds

When approached for comment, a Woolworths spokesperson said the supermarket works hard on pest control.

"Our store team work hard every day to maintain our high standards for cleanliness and work closely with pest control services to manage the rodent population that can be found throughout the inner city," the spokesperson said.

"If customers ever have any concerns about the cleanliness in-store we encourage them to bring it to the attention of our friendly team who will action it straight away."
