Woolworths announce new environmentally-friendly collectables

Following the resounding success of the 'Little Garden' promotion in New Zealand, which gave an environmentally friendly twist to supermarket collectables, Woolworths has announced its very own version.

The supermarket giant appears to have listened to a wave of parents calling for collectables that won’t have a detrimental effect on the environment in the wake of the recent plastic toy promotions, Coles’ Little Shop 2 and Woolworths’ Lion King Ooshies.

“Woolworths is excited to confirm that we will be launching Woolworths Discovery Garden in September, a new collectable designed to give Australians of all ages the opportunity to grow their very own fresh food,” a spokesperson revealed on Monday.

The latest promotion will see shoppers rewarded with a small plant pot and seeds in a move that looks to inspire a new green-fingered generation.

The promotion is based on the ‘Little Garden’ promotion, which also had success in South Africa, where the plant pot is biodegradable.

Seeds for herbs and vegetables are expected.

While Woolworths were unable to release any information on the promotion until closer to the promotion, their previous collectable promotions have seen shoppers rewarded with one collectable for every $30 spent.

“We are excited to give Australians the opportunity to engage in the program and look forward to sharing more details of what customers can expect closer to the launch date,” the spokesperson said.
