Woolworths announces new Disney Words collectables campaign

Woolworths has announced its latest collectables campaign will be Disney Words tiles after rife speculation.

The new initiative in partnership with The Walt Disney Company Australia includes 36 tiles featuring characters from some of Disney’s most-loved films including Aladdin, Frozen, Toy Story and Moana.

A number or symbol on the back of the tile can be used for multiple wordplay games.

The tiles will be released on Wednesday with customers receiving one for every $30 they spend.

“We set out to create a program with a difference that will not only capture the imagination of kids and families but can also make learning and literacy fun, ” Woolworths Supermarkets managing director Claire Peters said.

“With this in mind, we are really excited to be able to work with Disney again to launch our very own ‘Disney Words by Woolworths’.”

As the war against plastic waste rages on, Woolworths has made the decision to predominantly make the tiles out of tin plated steel and wrap them in paper.

Both the tile and the paper wrapper are recyclable via any kerbside recycling bin.

The campaign looks set to rival Coles’ latest “minis” collection, Stikeez, which were released earlier this month.

There are 36 Disney Word tiles across 11 movie titles to collect including characters from Frozen, Toy Story, Moana, Cars, Aladdin, Mickey Mouse & Friends, Beauty and The Beast, The Incredibles, The Lion King and Dumbo.

Customers will also be able to purchase a collector’s album for the tiles for $4, a carry bag to hold the loose tiles for $3 or a magnetic message board for $4.

The supermarket will also release bonus tiles with certain purchases either in-store or online.
