Woman chased by Woolies staff after allegedly stealing trolley of groceries

A woman who made a brazen attempt to allegedly steal a trolley full of groceries from a Woolworths store has been caught red handed on camera.

The incident was filmed by a customer at the Baulkham Hills location on Monday afternoon, who spotted the woman rushing out the door with a staff member chasing her.

In the video the woman can be seen aggressively pushing the Woolworths employee, as she struggles to leave the store with the loaded trolley.

“Let go!” the woman yells as the trolley slams into the front of a nearby parked car.

As the staff member repeatedly attempts to grab the trolley from the woman, she accuses the employee of “breaking the law.”

Witness Dimple Singh told 7NEWS she saw the woman assaulting the employee.

“I saw that she had pushed the Woolworth lady down,” she said.

A nearby man tells the woman to “show the receipt” to the staff member, the woman simply yells back “I don’t have one” as she continues to struggle.

Eventually the woman seems to give in as the Woolies staff member grabs hold of the trolley but the woman makes a last effort to grab what she can, making off with her handbag, a bag of groceries and some nappies.

The 26-year-old woman was intercepted by an off duty police officer as she tried to leave the car park.

The woman is reportedly known to police and will face court next month, charged with shoplifting and assault.
