Ellyse Perry joins exclusive club with incredible 16-year Test first

Recording her second Test century for Australia, Perry hit triple figures off 246 balls with the tourists sitting pretty on 3-295.

The milestone followed her unbeaten 213 against England in November 2017 – her last match in the longest form of the game.

No player had scored consecutive tons in women’s Test cricket since Claire Taylor managed the feat for England against South Africa in August 2003.

England’s Enid Blackwell (1969) and Australia’s Betty Wilson (1958) are the only other women in the exclusive club.

By the time Perry reached her hundred she had already surpassed Taylor’s 2003 haul of 308 runs to set a new mark for most runs in consecutive women’s Test innings.

The Aussie allrounder’s record closed on 329 runs when she was dismissed on 116, caught off a full toss chipped to midwicket.

Australia will retain the Ashes with a victory or a draw in the four-day Test match.
