Woman's terrifying confrontation just 200 metres from home

A woman has been followed and threatened at gunpoint by two men during a terrifying carjacking spree in Brisbane.

The 36-year-old woman was returning from work just before midnight when she was ambushed just 200 metres from home.

Her car was blocked by a hatchback on Azalea Crescent in Calamvale, in the city’s south.

She was cornered with nowhere to go when a man got out of his car and pulled out a handgun.

Then a second man approached, also holding a gun.

The first man then aimed his pistol at the driver and told her to get out of the car.

She did, and the pair took off, one in the hatchback, the other in her sedan, speeding back past their victim as she ran to safety.

Her housemate said the victim was “crying and shaking” as she ran into the house.

Detectives say she wasn’t the pair’s first carjack victim.

Half an hour earlier, the drivers of the red hatchback tried to carjack a different driver on The Avenue in Sunnybank Hills.

The gunmen are still on the run as detectives close in.

The woman’s stolen sedan was found dumped in Ipswich and has already been forensically examined.
