Woman 'stunned' by $1 million Lotto phone call

A NSW woman was shocked to pick up the phone to the news that she had won $1 million in the Lotto.

The Crows Nest grandmother was in disbelief this morning, when an official from The Lott told her she was a division one winner.

“Are you kidding me?,” she asked the representative.

“Are you sure?” “Wow. I am feeling very stunned at the moment,” she said.

The woman’s winning entry in Monday and Wednesday Lotto draw 4097 was drawn on Wednesday.

The evening’s winning numbers were 15, 11, 16, 42, 18 and 17, with 26 and 14 as supplementaries.

She isn't the only lottery winner to question her good fortune.

A Sydney father was in disbelief after winning $700,000 off a free Lotto ticket last week, and a Queensland couple almost hung up on Lotto officials, thinking the news of their $4.8 million win was a prank.

The North Shore resident was one of three division one winners across Australia.

“I think I might be in shock,” the woman told The Lott.

The woman also told a representative of The Lott that she and her husband had been trying their luck with the Lotto for quite some time.

“My husband and I have been playing for ages and ages, I can’t believe this day has finally arrived,” she said.

Grandmother plans to spend fortune on family

The grandmother plans to spend her new fortune on her family.

“We have a big family so we will be able to help our children and grandchild,” she said.

She also said that she and her husband planned to celebrate in the near future.

“We’re both retired so I am sure we will find plenty of ways to enjoy it once this lockdown lifts.”

NSW is currently in lockdown following a surge of Covid-19 cases throughout the state.

Newsagent that sold winning lotto ticket ‘so glad’

The woman purchased her winning ticket from newsXpress at Crows Nest.

The owner of the newsagency has welcomed the news for their community.

“I’m so glad we’ve done it again,” owner Louise Geng told The Lott.

“We’re so pleased for our customer.

“This is just what we all need during a very stressful time - some happy news!” she said.

Ms Geng told officials she hopes the couple have an opportunity to enjoy their winnings.

“We hope the winner can enjoy their prize once this lockdown lifts.”

The Lottery is proving to be helpful in the current financial climate with a Sydney business owner given the chance to save their business from the brink of closure with a $1.65 million lottery win.
