'Absolute legend!': Woman's surprise delivery after dropping cash

When a $50 note went missing from a woman’s purse, she was ready to accept she would never see it again.

She set off for a cafe breakfast thinking she was suitably cashed up, but was gutted when she realised that somewhere on her journey, the bank note had escaped her possession.

Taking her misfortune on the chin and continuing with her day, the woman from Woolooware in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire, made peace with the annoying loss.

But when she arrived home later that night, she found a note from a parcel delivery driver containing some rather uplifting news. A worker for courier company DHL, named Wayne, had found the $50 on the woman’s front lawn. Figuring it belonged to her, he concealed it within his delivery note and left it for her to find.

Posting in a local community Facebook group, she shared her incredible luck and praised the honesty of the DHL employee.

She said the $50 note would have been sitting on her lawn from about 7.45am until 2.30pm when the delivery was made.

“What an absolute legend! I was in a rush leaving the house this morning and grabbed a $50 to get breakfast. I got to the coffee shop and couldn’t find my $50 anywhere. I checked my car and wallet, but it was nowhere to be seen,” she wrote.

“I had a DHL delivery waiting at my door when I got home at 8:30pm and this (the $50 note) was with it.

“Wayne you are amazing, good to see there are still people like you around,” she wrote.

More than 100 people agreed and joined in praising Wayne for his kind act.

“Wayne you legend. Should be more people like you out there,” one person wrote in a comment to the post.

One man who claimed to be a DHL executive even said he would track down Wayne and thank him personally.

Others urged the woman to contact the company to make sure Wayne was recognised for his work.

“Wow that is so lovely to hear someone is being so honest. Tell DHL and get him some good brownie points,” one person said.
