Woman's search for stranger who saved her from stalker

A woman has been searching for the hero who was punched in the face while defending her from the advances of a stalker.

Charlie Tamuno, 20, was walking to her car at about 4am after finishing her shift at an Auckland night club when a strange man approached her, the NZ Herald reported.

Ms Tamuno said she wasn’t interested in talking, but the man continued to follow her.

Feeling unsafe, she crossed the road and waited for another man who was heading in the same direction and he said he would walk her to her car.

The kind stranger offered to carry her bags and appeared to be in his twenties with light brown hair, a beard and eyebrow ring.

However, the stalker continued to harass the pair.

“He kept asking us all these questions and we were like ‘yeah, we are together, this is my boyfriend and he just came to pick me up’,” Ms Tamuno told the outlet.

The stalker then punched the heroic man in the face three times, leaving him bloodied on the ground.

“He just knocked him clean out,” Ms Tamuno said.

Ms Tamuno called emergency services who took the man to hospital, while she gave the police a statement.

However, she was later unable to find the man in hospital and has appealed for public help to find her hero, hoping to say thank you and pay for any medical expenses.

The man who came to Ms Tamuno’s aide is a UK tourist called Mike Garner, according to the NZ Herald.

Ms Tamuno hopes to thank Mr Garner and give him a gift.
