Woman's disgusting find in $400 hotel room
What was supposed to be a luxury stay at a swanky hotel turned into a living nightmare after a couple found “hundreds” of maggots crawling around the floors and walls.
Social media influencer Hayley Johnsen was trying to take a relaxing bath in her $400 Californian hotel room on Monday night when she noticed something amiss.
The young make-up artist, who has thousands of followers on social media, recorded the horror at her feet after she reaslied what looked like a Tic Tac was actually a wriggly maggot – and it wasn’t alone.
The video she shared with her 14,000 Twitter followers on Tuesday appears to show dozens of the vile larvae crawling around the tiles and walls of the room of the boutique hotel she rented with her partner. It’s enough to make your skin crawl.
“That’s disgusting,” he can be heard saying in the clip, as Ms Johnsen zooms in on the creepy crawlies at her bare feet.
In the blow-by-blow account of her stay at the Palo Alto Inn, she claimed hotel management couldn’t care less about the “hundreds” of maggots in her room.
As I’m sitting there, I see something… I’m like what is this tic tac on the floor…

“I say … ‘babe … babe. Get the f**k in here now’,” she continued.
“He comes running in and crunches on like 10 of them. I’m screaming naked in the tub. He looks at me and says ‘get your f**king clothes on, we’re getting out of here’ … I’m shaking.”
It was around midnight on Monday when Ms Johnsen called a front desk staffer to come and take a look at the room.
She claimed the “rude” man refused to give her a refund, but offered to relocate the couple to another room.
“We say absolutely not. It’s almost midnight. This is a health hazard. We want our money back now,” she tweeted.
“He said he could maybe ask his manager tomorrow if they can ‘work something out’.”
Her partner told him that wasn’t good enough, and demanded a refund or he would sue.
“The manager FLIPS out and says that’s it you’re checking out, no refund!” she wrote.
Out of options, the couple called the police, who agreed they could not stay in the room.

Still with no refund, the make-up artist implored her social media followers to help “avenge” her and slam the hotel online, or even better – call them to complain.
“Call and complain. Leave voicemails. Yelp them. Retweet. Avenge me,” she tweeted.
And they did.
Mercury News reports The Palo Alto Inn has since apologised to the guests, claiming a refund had now been issued.
“We are shocked to hear about your stay and hope you will accept our sincerest apology. Please know that we have issued you a full refund,” the hotel said.
