Woman, toddler and baby hit by car driven by 95yo man while crossing road

A toddler and a baby have been rushed to hospital in a serious condition after being run over while on a pedestrian crossing north of Brisbane.

The children and a woman in her 30s were struck outside the Bribie Island Shopping Centre, on Goodwin Drive in Bongaree, at around 11.50am on Monday.

The four-year-old girl sustained multiple abrasions in the collision while the six-month boy suffered a head injury.

Both were taken to Queensland Children’s Hospital with a high acuity response paramedic on board to provide critical care.

While a 30-year-old woman was taken to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with multiple abrasions in a serious condition.

Queensland Ambulance told Yahoo News Australia that a 95-year-old man was also transported to Caboolture Hospital in a stable condition as a “precaution”.

It’s believed he was behind the wheel of the vehicle that struck the three pedestrians.

Goodwin Drive between Bongaree Avenue and Hornsby Road was closed following the incident.

Police are urging motorists to avoid the area and expect delays.
