Woman survives two near-death experiences in less than 24 hours

A woman has survived two near-death experiences in less than 24 hours, when her house was engulfed by fire the day after she escaped a mass shooting.

Deseriee Edman, a US woman, was at a country music bar in Southern California when a Marine Corps veteran entered and opened fire on November 7.

The 28-year-old gunman, David Long, opened fire at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, killing 12 people before taking his own life.

Ms Edman managed to escape the shooting, but was hit by tragedy the next day when her family’s home burned down in the Californian wildfires.

The Woolsey Fire, one of three fires that broke out in California on November 8, engulfed her family’s Malibu home.

The family had to evacuate, People reported.

“Two near-death experiences that you just don’t expect,” Ms Edman told local outlet KCBS.

“I’m trying to stay strong as possible for my family and my friends. And I’m trying to look at everything as positive as I can in these types of situations.”

The family is trying to find the bright side in the face of their difficulties.

“The fact is we made it out alive, and my sister survived and we’re here,” Deseriee’s sister, Destiny Malibu, told the outlet.
