Woman stabbed following train attack

A man has been charged with stalking and three further domestic violence charges over the stabbing of a woman on a train in regional NSW.

Emergency services were called to the old Ravensworth Railway Station on Hebden Road, between Singleton and Muswellbrook, about 1.30pm on Saturday after reports a woman had been stabbed.

Paramedics treated the woman for a stab wound to the ribs. She was flown to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.

A 35-year-old man who was allegedly armed with a knife was arrested a short time later.

He was assessed by paramedics and taken to hospital where he remains under police guard.

In a statement early Sunday morning, police say a man who they suspect knows the woman will face 10 charges and appear in court later in the day.

The man will face charges of; Wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (domestic violence), take/detain person with intent to obtain advantage/cause aggravated bodily harm (domestic violence), and commit s114 offence (armed with intent to commit an indictable offence) having previous conviction.

In court Sunday the man will also face charges of; Common assault (domestic violence), stalk/intimidate intend fear/physical harm (domestic violence), two counts of common assault, two counts of stalk/intimidate with intent to cause fear/physical harm, and intimidate police officer in execution of duty without aggravated bodily harm.
