Woman sparks Aussie debate over appropriate work clothing: 'I didn't realise'

The TikToker divided opinion with the outfit she wore to her corporate Sydney job. What do you think?

They say comfort is key — just maybe not in the workplace.

Casual attire is increasingly accepted in many Australian workplaces as norms adapt to modern sensibilities, particularly after a majority of office workers were forced to work from home during the pandemic.

The comfy clothes we wore while working from our couch seem to be having an influence on what's acceptable workwear in the office nowadays. But is there a limit?

One Aussie woman has been called out for a recent outfit she wore to her corporate job, sparking debate online as thousands of Aussies can't seem to decide whether the criticism is valid or not.

TikToker Chloe Baradinsky works in Sydney's CBD and last month a comment from her colleagues stopped her in her tracks. According to her, they criticised her silk outfit, teasing her that it was perhaps inappropriate for the office.

"A male team member was like, 'Oh, I didn't realise we were wearing our pyjamas into work nowadays'," she said, explaining he continued by asking her how much the silk set cost her, and insinuated it had been cheap.

"How dare you, this isn't polyester. This is silk... $100 my ass," she jested, before showing off her outfit.

Baradinsky's video has since been viewed by millions and many have shared their opinion, with some defending her choice.

"Don't listen to these haters... darling I love this outfit, only the real ones understand this fashion, they don’t look like PJs at all," one person said. Another complimented her outfit and joked it's just an added benefit she won't need to "change at bedtime".

Unsurprisingly though, many others were not convinced. One person said her clothes were "totally pyjamas" while another agreed her outfit was "giving bedtime" vibes.

In response to the pushback, Baradinksy feigned disappointment. "Damn it, I thought I found the comfiest work outfit" ever, she said.
