Woman slashed with knife trying to break up fight between teenage girls


A woman has been allegedly stabbed by a teenage girl while trying to break up a fight at a nail salon on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

It’s alleged the woman, 42, was stabbed at the salon at Warringah Mall shopping centre in Brookvale on Monday about 3pm.

Two teenage girls, aged 14 and 13, had an altercation when the woman intervened and suffered a knife injury to her arm.

The woman was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital.

The 14-year-old was uninjured and the 13-year-old fled the scene, police said.

The 13-year-old later attended Dee Why Police Station and was charged with reckless wounding, affray and custody of a knife in a public place.

The teen was granted conditional bail and will appear in children’s court on January 22.
