Woman horrified by horses tied to trailer by their legs – but there's a twist

A concerned woman has shared photos of horses tied to an open trailer travelling at about 80km/h on a Melbourne freeway, but not everything is what it seems.

The woman shared the pics on Facebook, taken from the Citylink Freeway, on Thursday.

“Honestly, I think everyone was freaking out," she told 7News.

"They were strapped in so tight and the bigger one had ropes tied to its legs."

She added other drivers were beeping the ute and the freeway has a speed limit of between 80-100km/h.

She reported the incident to police and she shared the photos on Facebook.

But the woman need not be so concerned.

It turns out the horses were not real.

In a statement to Yahoo News, Victoria Police confirmed the incident was investigated and the ute driver won’t face charges.

“Investigators have been told the utility was seen travelling towing the trailer and horses on Citylink just after 8.30am,” police said.

“Fawkner Highway Patrol officers made a number of enquiries and determined that the horses are not real horses and were being transported for an Anzac ceremony.”
