Woman sexually assaulted at McDonald's toilet


A woman has been sexually assaulted in the bathroom of a McDonald’s restaurant in Queensland.

The 37-year-old was attacked about 4.45pm on Sunday at the fast food restaurant on Riverway Drive in Rasmussen, a suburb of Townsville.

The woman was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries following the incident and was released on Monday.

She is assisting police with their inquiries.

Police are hunting a suspect who is described as Aboriginal in appearance, around 163cm tall and last seen wearing a black beanie, dark sunglasses, dark shorts and what is believed to be a jersey with the number 17 on the back.

On Monday Townsville Crime Services Detective Inspector Chris Lawson said the suspect, believed to be aged between 30 and 40, had fled the scene on foot.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the man at the restaurant or in the nearby vicinity to immediately contact them.

Detectives have released CCTV footage of a man who may be able to assist with their investigations.
