A woman is in serious condition in hospital after being rescued from a house fire in Adelaide after firefighters were initially told no-one was inside.
Fire crews were called to the Hazel Terrace home at Henley Beach South just before 4am, but neighbours gave conflicting information about any residents living at the property.
"We still had mixed messages when we arrived from some of the neighbours saying there was no-one living there so we were assured by that," a fire crew member told the Nine Network.
"We thought that's a good thing and then obviously we found her into the job."
The woman was treated at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where she remains in a serious condition, while her home was extensively damaged.
