Friend creates Kmart 'survival kit' for mum and kids after partner leaves family

A woman has been praised for piecing together a Kmart “break up survival kit” after her friend’s partner left her and the kids.

A NSW woman shared a picture of the Kmart hamper and accompanying note on Facebook.

“To my beautiful friend,” the note read.

“Here is a little care package I put together to help you cope with such a heartbreaking time for you and the kids.”

The note includes a list of the items in the hamper with a reason as to why she chose each one.

Items include a candle “to light up the darkness”, scent circle “because boys stink”, mascara “because he made yours run”, and face masks “to hide from the world when you need to” along with several other items.

The woman told Yahoo7 her friend was “overcome with emotion” on receiving the gift and reading the note.

“There were tears of sadness and I guess knowing that I had her back,” she said.

She added her friend of about four years was “completely shocked and shattered” by the break up and “it came out of the blue”.

Her post has more than 4600 likes and 330 comments with many praising her “a beautiful gesture”.

One woman wrote the survival kit was an “awesomely lovely idea”, another labelled her a “great friend”.

“You’re so lovely,” another woman wrote.

“I seriously got a little teary reading your letter.”
