Woman mowing lawn hit and killed by landing plane

A woman has been killed while mowing a lawn after a plane struck her while landing.

CTV News reports the woman, aged in her 20s, was cutting grass on a ride-on lawn mower at an airfield north of Montreal in Canada.

A Quebec police spokesperson told the news station the woman was struck about 12.50pm on Monday (local time).

"The victim was on a tractor and she was hit by a plane that was landing," the spokesperson said.

"She was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead."

The pilot of the aircraft was also taken to hospital where they were treated for nervous shock.

CNN reports a police spokesperson confirmed the airfield, in Quebec, was used by a skydiving company and private aircraft. The pilot involved in the incident owned their plane.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TBS) is investigating the incident, with a spokesperson confirming to CNN the plane that struck the woman was a single-engine Nanchang CJ-6 – a training plane built in China.
