Woman makes ‘unnecessary scene’ at brother-in-law’s wedding after feeling ‘excluded’ by his family

A woman walked out of her brother-in-law’s wedding after how her in-laws treated her.

She shared the incident on Reddit’s “Am I the A******? (AITA)” forum. She and her husband have been married for almost six months, but she doesn’t feel welcomed by them. She has only attended two of the in-laws’ events, and at both, she wasn’t allowed to sit with her husband and his family.

It was the same case at her brother-in-law’s wedding. She was told to sit at a table with other wedding guests. But this time, she just didn’t understand why she couldn’t sit next to her husband.

“I was completely baffled at this,” she wrote. “I politely told her that I’d like to sit with family and my husband. But my husband said that there was no free spot for me. I told him he could’ve saved me a chair but he said that just like me, he was just a guest [and] there wasn’t much he could do.”

When she refused to sit at the other table, the couple broke out into a louder argument.

See this bedroom turn into a vibrant oasis after an incredible one-day renovation:

“His mom told me that I was making [an] unnecessary scene and complaining for no good reason,” she explained. “I went home then he came back later to tell me about how he and the rest of the family felt about what I did, and how I embarrassed the family and made a scene at his brother’s wedding for no valid reason. I said I wasn’t going to sit by and be excluded like that.”

Redditors thought the poster was justified to leave.

“They basically told you you aren’t family and they have no intention of changing that,” a user commented.

“Your husband is being incredibly disrespectful and gaslighting you,” another commented.

“I would consider this a major snub by his family,” a TikToker said.
