Hunt for witness after woman lured into car and sexually assaulted
A woman was lured into a car and sexually assaulted by two men in Melbourne’s CBD.
The woman was out with friends on July 29 between 11pm and 3am, walking around the city and catching public transport.
She walked past a car under Queens Bridge about 3.30am and was approached by two men who claimed they had a ride-share vehicle.
She got into the car and was driven to Albert Park where she was sexually assaulted.
Police said she punched one of the men before she managed to escape and call police.
Investigators have scoured CCTV footage in the months since the incident to track the woman’s movements and believe the two men are of Indian or sub-continental appearance aged between 25 and 35.
They have also released CCTV images of a man who spoke to the victim earlier in the night. He is believed to be a witness only and not involved in the incident.
Additionally they have distributed an image of a car they believe is similar to the one that was involved in the incident – a silver mid-2000s model Toyota Yaris hatch.
Anybody with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a report online.
