Woman's hair falls out after horrific shampoo spiking in supermarket

A young woman has been forced to shave her head after the shampoo and conditioner she purchased from her local supermarket were believed to be mixed with hair removal cream.

Ashley Rose Robinson, from the US state of Wisconsin, was traumatised and left in tears after clumps of her hair started falling out in the shower on Sunday night.

Throughout the night and the following morning, large chunks were still falling out, with the young woman posting photos to Facebook to show bald patches left on her scalp.

“This is raw and has hit me like no other. My hair was finally the way I loved it to be and now it’s gone,” Ms Robinson wrote.

Another image, uploaded by her mother Taffy Jo Timm, shows huge clumps of hair on the shower floor and spread over the walls.

Ms Timm said the Pantene conditioner was an “ugly pink colour” instead of the white it was supposed to be, and warned other shoppers of the suspected tampering.

Ms Robinson went to a hairdresser to see if hair extensions were an option, but because her hair was “brittle” and still falling out, it was ruled out.

The next night, her uncle helped her shave her head completely.

“Emotions are real,” she wrote in another Facebook post sharing a picture of her new look.

“Anxiety attacks more than ever this evening. I’m scared. I don’t wanna go in public.”

She wrote she was nervous of having to go to work the following day, but finished up the post with the hashtags #baldisbeautiful and #whatdoesntkillmemakesmestronger.

The New Richmond Police Department confirmed they were investigating a possible product tampering case and were working with department store giant Walmart to secure CCTV.

“Due to the significance of this offense, New Richmond officers and detectives have been working with WalMart staff to identify potential suspects and review video surveillance,” a statement read.

In Wisconsin, product tampering can be a felony offence.

The story comes after the viral ‘ice-cream challenge’ emerged last month, which started when a Texas woman was filmed opening a new tub of ice-cream, licking it and putting it back on the shelf.

More recently, another woman in the US state of Pennsylvania was caught on CCTV urinating on potatoes in Walmart.
