Woman killed after being abducted from party

A British woman has been shot dead after being abducted from a party in north-central Nigeria.

A British High Commission statement said she was killed on Friday when gunmen attacked the Kajuru Castle holiday resort in Kaduna state.

The statement identified the British national as Faye Mooney.

Aid group Mercy Corps said Mooney had worked as a communications specialist in Nigeria for almost two years and said it was “utterly heartbroken”.

Kaduna state police spokesman Yakubu Sabo told reporters the gunmen also kidnapped three other people.

Sabo says Mooney had been in a group of 12 tourists who travelled from Lagos, and was at a party when she was abducted.

No group or identity have claimed responsibility for the incident, and police have yet to identify the kidnappers, News Corp reported.
