Woman jailed for chopping off boyfriend's penis after he shared their sex tape
A woman has been jailed for 13 years for chopping off her boyfriend’s penis with garden shears for sharing sex tapes with their friends.
Brenda Barattini, 28, was unanimously convicted by a jury at a court in Cordoba, Argentina of attempted murder following the attack on Sergio Fernandez, 42, in November 2017.
"I am very sorry for what I did, I never wanted to kill anyone. I ask that justice be done. I screwed up my life, I want to continue with my normal life," the defendant cried shortly before hearing the sentence.
During her trial, Barattini admitted she planned to hurt her partner but not kill him, because he "treated her like a trophy," and had shared intimate videos of the couple to friends.
"It violated my intimacy, my life and my career. It had ruined everything," she said.
However Prosecutor Laura Battistelli said the jury agreed that "the accused wanted to take the man's life."
Mr Fernandez said during the trial Barattini had tricked him, blindfolding him before performing oral sex. She then used the garden shears to sever his penis.
He managed to leave the apartment while losing a lot of blood and was helped by neighbours who heard his screams.
Mr Fernandez had to undergo several reconstruction operations since the attack.
He told the court he suffers from panic attacks, insomnia and has a fear women want to kill him during sex.
Barattini is expected to appeal the decision with her lawyer claiming the decision was “unheard of” in Argentina.
