A woman has been taken to hospital as firefighters continue to battle a blaze at a Melbourne factory.
The woman, aged in her 20s, was taken to the Alfred Hospital just after 8am on Friday, after escaping the fire, at a disused factory on Greeves Street in St Kilda.
She is in a stable condition suffering face, arm and leg injuries.
Firefighters say the blaze was brought under control just before 9am, but they initially had difficulty getting inside.
Several blocks of flats surrounding the factory were evacuated as a precaution and a community warning has been issued for smoke in the area.
The cause of the fire is not yet known and fire investigators from the Metropolitan Fire Brigade will attend.
