Woman hangs off front of moving truck in desperate attempt to avoid fine

This is the moment a woman stands on the front of a moving truck to hide the licence plate from traffic cameras and avoid a fine.

The incident was filmed by a CCTV camera in the city of Yulin in the southern Chinese autonomous region of Guangxi and posted on social media.

In the footage, a woman is seen jumping down from the passenger seat of a stationary truck and approaching the front of the vehicle.

She then stands on the bumper to allegedly obscure the licence plate as the lorry rejoins the traffic.

A police spokesman told local media they “suspect the woman covered the plate on purpose in order to avoid our monitoring and a fine”.

“Policy restricts trucks [from] running in this area from 7am to 10pm,” he said.

“This is a severe violation of traffic law, moreover it was very dangerous.

“If the woman fell on the ground, she could have been severely hurt or even died.”

The spokesman confirmed the local authorities were investigating the case.

If found guilty, the truck driver can expect a fine of 200 RMB (about AU$42) and a temporary driving ban, according to reports.
