'Forever in our hearts': Touching tributes to 'beloved Courky' at makeshift memorial in park

Family and friends of the woman beaten to death and left in a Melbourne park have remembered the late 25-year-old as a “beautiful” and “gentle” person.

Tributes in the form of flowers and cards have been left in Parkville’s Royal Park, where police believe Courtney Herron was brutally murdered some time on Friday night or Saturday morning.

A heart-wrenching note from Ms Herron’s mother willed her to find “eternal peace”.

“To our beloved Courky, forever in our hearts...Find eternal peace with Pappou - you will be forever safe with him. Love mum, Chris, Sian and Lulu.”

A card from her Auntie Georgia, Uncle Peter, Tom and Maria expressed their heartbreak over her being killed so young.

“To our gentle, beautiful niece Courtney. You have been taken from us too soon. May you find rest and peace. You will forever be in our hearts and prayers,”

A lengthy message printed out and glued to red cardboard along with some photos of Ms Herron from school said she would be remembered as a “crazy kid”.

“Dear Courtney, you will be remembered as a crazy kid with a beautiful personality. You always knew how to make everyone around you laugh and smile. You always found light in every situation

“You taught me resilience and helped me find strength. You taught me that if you don’t laugh, you cry, and I still live by that.”

“You touched so many hearts, and left a mark on mine. You won’t be forgotten,” a letter from from Sigrid, said.

Another unsigned note said, “You will not be forgotten. Rest in peace Courtney. With love”.

Several bouquets of flowers were laid at the scene, with one having a card with the words “fly free”.
