Woman fired for bringing shocking food item to colleague's farewell party

A woman has been fired after she turned up at a work colleague’s send-off with a shocking treat.

The 47-year-old woman, who works at a Michigan engineering company and hasn’t been named, brought brownies to the going away party laced with laxatives.

She had tension with the departing colleague, according to other employees.

Saline police Chief Jerrod Hart said officers confiscated the tainted confections on May 3 after another employee tipped off management. No one ate the brownies.

Chief Hart told The Ann Arbor News the 47-year-old woman initially denied putting laxatives in the brownies, but after learning investigators would test them she admitted she had.

He also told CBS Baltimore the woman’s actions were “very serious” despite appearing to be a “joke”.

The woman faces no charges, but if anyone had eaten the brownies it could have been considered a criminal act.
