Woman fighting for life after hit-and-run truck driver 'runs red light'

A 21-year-old woman is fighting for life after being struck by a truck when a driver allegedly ran a red light and drove off in Sydney’s west.

The woman was crossing Woodville Road at the intersection of Tangerine Street, Villawood, about 9.35pm on Thursday when she was struck by a northbound vehicle, police said.

The woman had a green pedestrian signal at the time of crossing, police said.

According to police, the driver of the small black truck with a cage on the back left the scene without stopping, while the woman has suffered serious head and leg injuries and is at Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.
