Update after woman found dead
A woman who died behind a Northern Territory shopping complex had been receiving treatment days before her death.
Early Tuesday about 1.05am police and ambulance responded to reports of a woman unconscious and not breathing behind a shopping centre at Wanguri Place in Darwin’s north.
The woman, 53, was pronounced dead at the scene despite resuscitation attempts by St John Ambulance.
Police are treating the death as suspicious.
She had allegedly been observed in the company of a group of people before emergency services arrived.
Police have since revealed the woman had a pre-existing head injury, which she was receiving treatment for in the days before her death.
However, the exact cause of her death remains unknown, with a crime scene established on Tuesday.
This is despite an autopsy being completed, with the woman’s next of kin also notified.
Police have spoken to a number of witnesses however investigations remain ongoing, as anyone with information is urged to come forward.
