Woman's horrific car park death after her head gets trapped between car and pay station

WARNING - DISTURBING DETAILS: A young woman has been killed in a horrific accident when her head became trapped between her car and a payment machine at a car park in the US.

Victoria Strauss, 23 from Columbus, Ohio, was attempting to pay for the parking with her credit card when she dropped her card outside the vehicle, police said.

When she reached down to pick it up, she accidentally stepped on the car’s accelerator and the vehicle moved forward, trapping her head.

While the accident occurred at about 11.40pm on Monday night (local time), the woman’s body was only discovered by a security guard on Tuesday morning.

According to People, Ms Strauss’ head was trapped between her car door and the door frame after colliding with the pay station.

Police confirmed she died at the scene.

Ms Strauss graduated from Ohio State University, who told People in a statement: “We were heartbroken to learn she passed away on Monday, and we extend our deepest sympathy to her family and friends during this difficult time."

Ms Strauss’ friends and family paid tribute to her on Facebook, with her cousin saying she was still in “disbelief” over her sudden death.

Another friend and former cheerleading coach described Ms Strauss as a “beautiful soul”.

“I will forever cherish the memories we made and those conversations we shared. Being your Coach has been one of the greatest honours of my life and am so grateful our paths crossed,” she wrote.

Before moving to Ohio, Ms Strauss lived in Florida where she was part of a competitive cheer and dance team.
