An elderly woman has been killed at a home in Brisbane's northern suburbs, with a 50-year-old man in hospital.
Police were called to Topaz Drive property in Mango Hill about 1pm on Thursday over what they described as the most serious type of incident.
It was there they discovered the body of a 75-year-old woman and the man with what they believe were self inflicted wounds.
Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Richard Hoffman told reporters the man was in a stable condition and police were hoping to speak with him after he received treatment.
Det Snr Sgt Hoffman refused to comment on the relationship between the pair or any details of what may have occurred in the home.
Forensic officers remain at the crime scene.
