Woman dead, husband hurt in Qld crash

A woman has died and her husband has head and back injuries after they were hit by a car while crossing a road at Logan, south of Brisbane.

The pair, both 67, were crossing at a set of lights when a motorist in an SUV hit them at Browns Plains about 7.45am.

The 28-year-old female driver wasn't hurt. Media reports say she had her children in the car at the time and that she tried to help the injured couple.

But there was nothing that could be done to save the woman, who died at the scene. Her husband was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition, suffering injuries to his head and back.

The forensic crash unit is investigating the incident, which happened at the intersection of Browns Plains Road and Downing Street.
