A woman has been crushed to death by a man who took his own life while she was on a date with a suitor she met online.
Taylor Kahle was walking with her date in San Diego, in the US state of California, on Sunday (local time) when she died at the scene after being crushed by another man.
The tragedy occurred just days before she was due to celebrate her 30th birthday.
She had gone to the zoo and out for dinner for a second date with the man she had met online when she found herself in the path of another man who took his life, US TV station KSDK reported.
After already losing Ms Kahle's mother to Alzheimer's, the 29-year-old's dad shared a tribute to his daughter through her boss and friend, Laurel McFarlane.
"Her life was at a high point. It was all good and she was very happy," her dad said in a Facebook post shared by McFarlane Promotions.
"So when I keep thinking about how much I miss her, as hard as it is, I like to think she left this world on a high note.
"Without any of us truly being able to control our destiny, or fate, I don't have to look back and say I would have lived my life with her any differently. Taylor and I were awesome together! And that is the memory I will carry with me the rest of my life."
Ms McFarlane said Ms Kahle was a beloved team member, daughter and friend.
"She was just about to celebrate, as she liked to say, her 'dirty 30', and had everything planned down to the favours for her guests," she wrote on Facebook.
"She was a true event planner at heart."
Ms McFarlane added in February this year to cheer them up amid the Covid pandemic, they would say what they were grateful for every day.
Sharing some examples, Ms Kahle told her boss she was grateful for her friends that were to make it to her 30th birthday, her health and her dogs.
"I want you to know I am grateful for the Tuesdays and Thursdays that we would be in the office all alone these past months and just chit-chat about life, love, and our passion for events," Ms McFarlane wrote after sharing Ms Kahle's gratitudes.
"Little did I know how precious that time was going to be. That time together this Spring will forever be something I am grateful for.
"I asked you to come work from the office for me, as you made me feel happier and I liked having you around.
"I know I broke all the rules as an employer, and honestly, you should not love your employee with all your heart – however, I did and I loved you like you were my daughter.
"As much pain as I am in right now, I am grateful for every f***ing rule I broke."
