Woman charged with murder after disturbing find in stillborn baby

A woman who delivered a stillborn baby with toxic levels of methamphetamine in its system has been charged with murder.

Chelsea Cheyenne Becker, 25, gave birth to a stillborn baby boy on September 10, and admitted to police she used meth just three days prior, NBC News reported.

The woman, from the US state of California, was arrested on Tuesday this week (local time) after a coroner found the illicit substance in the baby’s system, according to Hanford Police Department.

Police ruled the death a homicide and issued an arrest warrant in September after being issued results from the autopsy.

Becker was charged with first-degree murder and taken to Kings County Jail in Hanford where she would be held until her court appearance on November 19.

Her bail has been set at A$7 million, according to jail records.

Police said in the past Becker had lost custody of other children due to her substance abuse.
