Woman charged over sex assault on Vic teen

A woman has been charged with sexually assaulting a 17-year-old schoolgirl at a Melbourne railway station.

A girl was on her way home from school about 2pm on May 1 when the woman allegedly approached her from behind at Newport station and sexually assaulted her.

Police released CCTV footage and an image on Tuesday morning and a woman handed herself in by the afternoon.

The 32-year-old Williamstown woman has been released on bail to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on August 17.
