Daughter's heartbreak as father's girlfriend charged after his death
A woman has been charged with manslaughter after her partner was killed in his home overnight.
Gilbert Caetano, 51, died in his Brighton Le Sands home, in Sydney’s south, on Sunday just after 1am.
The panel beater suffered severe injuries, while his elderly parents witnessed the brutal and sudden attack.
Mr Caetano’s 31-year-old girlfriend Jade Walker was arrested at the scene.
The victim’s devastated daughter, Jessica Caetano, described her father as a “loving, caring and a kid at heart”.
“I don’t think he deserved this at all,” she told 7 News.
Jessica said she was not aware the couple had any issues in the past.
Police were also searching for answers.
Neighbour Thomas Tawa told 7 News he heard noises coming from the home.

“All I could hear was a distressed woman screaming. I didn’t know what was happening,” he said.
Walker spent the rest of the Saturday and Sunday at Kogarah Police Station.
The formal interview was delayed because she was too unwell. Detectives finally had the chance to speak with her on Sunday afternoon.
Walker has been refused bail to face Sutherland Local Court on Monday, charged with manslaughter and breaking into the home.
