A woman has been charged with historical sex offences after allegedly assaulting a 12-year-old child at a school in regional Victoria.
It's alleged the now 51-year-old woman repeatedly assaulted the child in Sale, a major town in Gippsland, in 1999.
The matter was first reported to police in 2021.
The Hoppers Crossing resident has been charged with 26 offences including sexual penetration of a child under 16 and indecent assault.
She has been charged on summons and is expected to face court on Friday.
Victoria Police says it encourages anyone with sex assault or child abuse allegations to come forward and has promised to investigate all reports, regardless of when they occurred.
