Woman 'cancels everything' to celebrate $4.8m lottery win
A Sydney mum had to cancel her plans and lie on the ground "to let it all sink in" after hearing of her $4.8 million lottery win on Wednesday.
The woman was the only division one winner in the Set for Life draw 2147 on Tuesday.
She will receive the large sum in instalments of $20,000 every month for 20 years.
“Oh my god! That is absolutely amazing,” she told The Lott.
“When you called me before, I was convinced you were scamming me. But then I checked my ticket online, and I saw it was true!
“Wow! I just can’t believe this! My husband is right beside me, and he keeps asking me what I am on the phone about.
“I was meant to go out for a few appointments today, but I am going to cancel everything!
“As soon as I get off the phone to you, I am going to lay on the ground and let this all sink in!
The winner said she is going to use some of the money to renovate her home and would “love a new kitchen”.
“I want to help out the kids as well.
“Eventually, we would love to travel around the world, but for now, we will just use it to travel around Australia and enjoy our retirement.
“Tonight, we will go out for dinner to celebrate.”
The winning ticket was sold at Lucky 7 Burraneer Supermarket in southern Sydney.
Owner Charlie Xu said his customer is a “very lucky woman” and he hopes she enjoys her win.
