Woman arrested after trying to 'snatch child from car parked in driveway'

A woman has been charged for allegedly trying to snatch a young boy out of a parked car.

Investigators said a five-year-old was sitting in a car parked in the driveway of the family home in Preston, in Melbourne’s north, about 8.30am on Wednesday.

The boy’s mother went inside for a moment and when she returned she saw her son out the front of a neighbouring house with the unknown woman.

The mother grabbed the boy and went back inside the home while the woman walked off towards Plenty Road.
