An 18-year-old man has been charged with attempting to rape a 93-year-old woman during a burglary of her home in Perth's northern suburbs.
Police allege the man attempted to sexually assault the woman after entering her home on Sunday afternoon.
He was arrested on aggravated charges of attempted sexual penetration without consent, indecent assault and burglary.
Police Commissioner Chris Dawson said on Monday it was an extremely serious offence.
"A crime against an elderly woman, alone in her own home, is almost indescribable," he told reporters.
"I can understand the community concern, indeed outrage, at this reported crime."
The man faced Perth Magistrates Court on Monday and was remanded in custody.
