Amazon Canada says its Windsor delivery station will open its doors by the end of October.

Spokesperson Ryma Boussoufa refers to the 125,000 square foot facility as a DCL8 hub — the company's "last mile of customer fulfilment" for across the Windsor-Essex region.

She says it will open with more than 70 employees and that they're currently in the process of filling those jobs.

A specific opening date was not included in a Friday statement by the company.

Amazon previously said its intention was to eventually grow its workforce to roughly 300 full-time and part-time workers.

The warehouse and processing facility is where the old Chrysler Pillette Road assembly plant used to be.

Invest WindsorEssex had previously suggested the jobs would pay between $18 to $20 per hour.
