Windsor police responded to a "serious" collision on Walker Road Monday afternoon that left the stretch between Wyandotte and Ottawa Streets closed until early evening.

A police spokesperson said the collision was serious and there were injuries. A red SUV at the scene had heavy damage and was turned on its side.

Younis Hammoud works at a nearby business. He says he heard the crash around 2:30 p.m.

He says that he and one of his coworkers pulled a woman from a car, who was "almost passed out" due to the smoke, he said. He also saw two people on the ground.

He says their age was unclear but thought they might be "a little older."

He estimated there were 10 to 12 Windsor police vehicles.

While the cause of the crash is still unclear, Hammoud says people regularly "fly" down the road.

"Everybody has to do something yesterday, everybody's in a rush," he said. "People are not patient enough."

The crash remains under investigation.
