William and Kate pay touching tribute to Aussies affected by bushfires
Prince William and Kate Middleton have paid a touching tribute to Australians affected by the 'catastrophic' bushfires across New South Wales and Queensland.
The royals sent their well wishes on Tuesday via Twitter, and also offered resources on how to stay safe for those at risk in the affected areas.
“Followers in Australia can find out the latest information on the bushfires where there is a threat to the community by following the below accounts, @NSWRFS @QLDFES,” the couple’s account, Kensington Royal, tweeted.
“Our thoughts are with those impacted by these horrendous fires, and those working heroically to fight them.”

Last month, Prince Charles also tweeted about the bush fires in Australia, saying, “My wife and I were so greatly concerned to hear that the bushfire season has started with such devastating impact in Australia, and that such a large number of people have already been so cruelly affected.”
“We feel deeply for all of those affected who have suffered so much and whose property has been lost in these terrible infernos, as well as having immense admiration for the first responders and other agencies who so brilliantly rise to the challenge while supporting those in need.”
Warnings in place
In total, 35 areas across Sydney are deemed at risk, including the densely populated regions of Randwick, Parramatta, and North Sydney.
State-wide total fire bans are also in place across New South Wales and Queensland and there were 60 fires burning across the state on Monday night—28 of which were not contained.
Since Friday, fires have claimed the lives of three people and destroyed at least 150 homes.
Excess smoke left Sydney blanketed on Tuesday morning with pollution levels reportedly worse than Beijing.
