'Will he stay dead forever?': Toddler's heartbreaking response to dad's death

The young daughter of a bikie member who was killed in a suspected murder last year still asks her mum if her dad will be coming home soon.

Comanchero member Shane Ross, 36, was found dead in long grass on Tallebudgera Creek Road in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast in October.

His body was found about 1.5 kilometres away from the site of a single car crash where his friend Cameron Martin, 47, died just days earlier after crashing a Mercedes Benz into trees at high speed.

Both men were found to have died from gunshot wounds, Nine News reported.

As police continue to investigate their deaths and pin down the person responsible, Mr Ross’s widow Alexandra Leigh Ross has explained the weight of her family’s loss in a tearful appeal for information.

She told media on Monday that her late husband had fought hard to become the best version of himself prior to his death, and said the loss would continue to have a devastating impact on his family.

Ms Ross said he had been robbed of the chance to watch his daughters grow up, tuck them in at night, and hear about their day at school.

“Our three-year-old daughter wants to know if her daddy is coming back. She wants to know when he is coming home,” Ms Ross said.

“Why did he leave and 'will he stay dead forever mummy?'. Those are the questions I suffer through daily.”

Gold Coast Police Detective Acting Superintendent Brendan Smith said a “painstaking and complex investigation” had ensued in the five months since the two men were killed.

He said police were in the process of making an application for a reward, with new CCTV footage showing a white SUV doing a U-turn about 8.18pm on the Friday, the night Mr Martin was killed.

Police said the two men were friends and business partners who had been spotted together at a licensed venue earlier that night.

Whether something turned sour at some point in the evening has formed part of their investigation.
