Wild rumours swirl about Brian Laundrie's remains
Police have been forced to dispel rumours about the remains of Brian Laundrie.
Mr Laundrie, 23, was found dead weeks after he disappeared. He was considered a person of interest in the missing person’s case involving his 22-year-old fiancée Gabby Petito. She was found dead in September.
The partial human remains were discovered last week in Carlton Reserve just hours before the FBI also uncovered a backpack and notebook belonging to Mr Laundrie at Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park in the US state of Florida.
Dental records confirmed the remains belong to Mr Laundrie.
However, given a large amount of intrigue across the world surrounding the case, unfounded rumours have circulated claiming the remains did not belong to Mr Laundrie.
In an effort to set the record straight, North Port Police tweeted it had received a number of enquiries about a false report.

The police tweeted a copy of a statement from the medical examiner’s office.
"The identity of the remains found at the Carlton Reserve on Oct. 20 was confirmed by comparison to known dental records of Brian Laundrie," the statement reads.
"No DNA analysis has yet been performed on the remains."
Cause of Brian Laundrie's death 'undetermined'
Steve Bertolino, the Laundries’ attorney, said in text messages Monday that he was told by police the autopsy by the Sarasota County medical examiner did not produce concrete results on Mr Laundrie’s death.
“I was told the manner and cause of death were not determined and the remains were sent to an anthropologist (for) further evaluation,” Mr Bertolino said.
Eventually, Mr Laundrie’s remains will be cremated and no funeral is planned by his family, Mr Bertolino said.
No information has been released on what investigators found in a backpack and notebook found with Mr Laundrie’s remains.
