Why are people mad at TikToker Mikayla Nogueira? A since-deleted video from 2021 recently resurfaced

An influencer with 13.5 million TikTok followers ticked off TikTok when she complained about how hard her job is.

Beauty guru Mikayla Nogueira is facing criticism after a since-deleted video from 2021 resurfaced this month. In the clip, Nogueira fired back at a comment telling her to “report to a job 9-5.” The influencer claimed that she actually worked from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., but her comeback didn’t go over well with fans.

Who is Mikayla Nogueira?

Nogueira is a 24-year-old beauty influencer living in Boston. She has a degree in communications from Bryant University. She is followed by famous folks like Lady Gaga, Addison Rae and Jeffree Star.

The influencer launched her TikTok page in 2020 after she was laid off from Ulta during the pandemic.

Why is Mikayla Nogueira facing backlash on TikTok?

“Every single day, I get up at 6 a.m. I spend about five to six hours filming video content that ranges from three to four videos, and then I spend a few hours editing that video content. Then, I have to work on my other social media profiles, whatever it may be,” she said in the deleted video, according to PopCrush.

Nogueira deleted the video after receiving negative feedback.

Social media reacts to Nogueira’s resurfaced “influencer” video

TikToker @filtrayascamgueira has posted an isolated soundbite of her, in which she says, “Just finished working, it’s 5:19. Try being an influencer for a day. Try it.” It’s now being critiqued on TikTok.

“Making my cup for a 12-hour day. Mikayla girl, you are blessed! Please don’t complain,” @jackieb_11 wrote in a video caption.

“I’d love to try being an influencer for a day, Mikayla,” wrote @thatcrystallover2 in a video. “Because while you’re sitting in your $1 million dollar house, lying to people about makeup, I work two jobs from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. just so I can afford rent and groceries. While you make what I make in a year in a week.”

“So disappointing to see Mikayla Nogueira becoming an out-of-touch influencer just like the rest of them. Complaining about how hard her job is when most of us are just making enough to get by, some people working 12+ hours and still can’t pay bills,” @fleurmeme22 said in a tweet.

Nogueira has not addressed any of the recent feedback as of yet.
